Thankful Thursday 13

Thankful Thursday 13

My best friend spent the night and watched my kids this morning so I could go to a social media event. She even folded some laundry and emptied the dishwasher. I had a scrumptious chocolate croissant at Urban Bean Coffee in Minneapolis this morning. It’s not snowing. Yet. *ahem* I played Pretty Pretty Princess with my little boy yesterday.

My kids are doctor champs

My kids are doctor champs

My kids love going to the doctor and dentist. I feel like that is not normal, so I’m grateful for it. Connor had his 3-year-old checkup today. He got one booster shot and barely even winced at it. He passed his first eye exam and was very cute telling the nurse which shapes he knows how to draw (circle, cross, moon) and which ones he doesn’t (boat, heart). He also told me to tell the nurse and doctor that he gets to go to “gymnastics school” now. (He starts when the next session starts now that he’s potty trained.)...

A fun Valentine’s Day ending in a LONG wait

A fun Valentine’s Day ending in a LONG wait

We had an action-packed Valentine’s Day this year. Mark said it was one of his favorite Valentine’s Days ever. There’s steep competition, considering I got a not-quite-engagement ring on Valentine’s Day 10 years ago. KIDS FEST We went to Midwest Kids Fest at the RiverCentre. I had expected there to be a lot more things for the kids to do, and for more of those things to be free. Luckily they both enjoyed the three free inflatables and didn’t complain too much that we wouldn’t let them do the two that cost money. Grace was really dissapointed that she couldn’t get...

Boopy is going to Haiti

Boopy is going to Haiti

We had the kids sort through the stuffed animals in their rooms (but not the bags full currently in the garage) to pick out some that they could “send to a little boy or girl who doesn’t have any.” We’ve been talking to them a little bit about the Haiti earthquake since I went to Feed My Starving Children. At first, Grace was a bit reluctant but she picked several animals to give away. Once we were done, she got teary and looked at the pile and decided to retrieve a Pound Puppy and a big My Little Pony....

Cute kid stories

Cute kid stories

Lots of heavy topics lately, eh? How about some Friday Fun? Here are some cute kid stories. Grace: I want to put on Mommy stuff again. (that would be makeup) Me: Not today. Grace: But then I won’t be pretty. Me: Yes you will. Grace: I’ll just be half pretty. And I want to be whole pretty. (I still worry that she really thinks she needs makeup to be pretty but I’m pretty sure she’s just being silly. I hope.) ***** I was burping Eleanor, without having put my clothes back in order after nursing her. Connor says, “Mom,...

Tigger and Pooh trick-or-treat

Tigger and Pooh trick-or-treat

Halloween was more than just one day around here. First we went to the pumpkin patch Then went to a Halloween party at church Then carved pumpkins And finally went trick-or-treating. We went down a couple of block near the governor’s mansion. Everyone in the neighborhood had decorated houses, lots of carved pumpkins and was really into the spirit of Halloween. There were lots of other kids around too, which makes it more fun. Our kids had a blast and eventually got to the point where they could go up to the doors without us and say “trick or...

H1N1 hits – and why I hate HealthPartners

October 20, 2009

Grace woke with a fever Thursday night. After much pleading to get her to take some medicine (which she used to beg for), we held her down and gave her Tylenol with the baby dropper. By morning she was fine. She developed a fever Friday late afternoon. After pulling her out from under our bed, we again gave her Tylenol with a baby dropper. The next morning, she still had a fever and finally took some medicine willingly. The fever returned Saturday night and she again took it willingly and went to bed. Her fever has not returned but...

Day of doctors

Day of doctors

I accidentally scheduled two dentist appointments (me and Grace) and an OB appointment on the same day. Luckily, they were not at the same time. But I made a plan and decide to make it work. And for the most part, it did! Here was our day yesterday: We arrived at the dentist (ON TIME!) with books, legos, water and snacks to keep the kids busy. The snacks (Lucky Charms) are smashed into the waiting room floor while I’m checking in. But at least the office got our new insurance info from the St. Paul School District (as we...

A happy little moment

October 12, 2009

I’m feeling kind of bad about that last post because my kids had actually been pretty good that day. And they are really sweet and fun and funny when they want to be. So here’s a happy little moment we just had: The kids were watching Dora upstairs and I was downstairs checking my e-mail. Grace came running down the stairs saying “Ayudame. The Swiper monster is after me.” Connor follows behind saying “RAWR.” So I pick Grace up and put her on my back and together we say, “Swiper no swiping. Swiper no swiping. Swiper no swiping,” and...
