To do: Recycle/reuse

December 4, 2007

I came across a list of things that Inver Grove Heights recycles a while ago. It did not include boxboard (boxes from cereal, pop, crackers, etc). I always have a lot of that in my recycling so I vowed to get to the bottom of this some day. Yesterday, I did some poking around online and found my answer. IGH doesn’t have consolidated recycling like St. Paul. Each garbage hauler sets its own rules. So I don’t know why the city even has rules on it’s Web site. Our hauler, Troje, has partnered with Eureka, which does St. Paul’s...

To be: a grateful wife

November 29, 2007

A big “check” on this one today. I often focus on the things I wish Mark did differently or just did at all, but nights like last night remind me of how lucky I am. I’ve been feeling a little down lately and was last night after the kids’ bedtime. (I think bedtime really drains all my energy, even when the kids are good.) I was vegging at the computer and Mark unloaded the dishwasher, straightened up the living room and kitchen and brought me a mug of hot chocolate. Then he massaged my shoulders and back while we...

To do: Christmas shopping

To do: Christmas shopping

Today’s big to-do item was to buy Christmas gifts at the Mall of America. After being up 2:30-5 with Grace this morning, I knew I needed to get out of the house. I thought I’d kill four birds with one stone — get out, do something Grace enjoys, buy gifts, and find a winter coat for Connor (I’m going to return one I bought for him Friday because it’s too hard to zip). I printed out a list of gift ideas for several people. I packed the diaper bag, got the kids into coats and headed out. I was...

Welcome to my blog

November 25, 2007

I’ve been thinking about trying out this blogging thing for quite a while. I routinely read several that I enjoy and I thought it might be fun to try it out. But as I am the recovering procrastinator, it took me awhile to get to it. Along with having procrastination tendencies, I’m also indecisive — a bad combination. I debated whether I had anything worth saying that I don’t already share elsewhere, what my theme should be, what my name should be. Today I’m finally taking the plunge. I decided it will be about all the things I strive...

*sigh*

September 18, 2007

Note from May 25, 2008: I’m deleting my myspace page so I’m moving this here from there. It is my first real blog entry and was originally titled “never have children.” This night (Sept. 17, 2007, Grace’s 3rd birthday) was strikingly similar to some we’ve been having lately. I started the night with high hopes. After four nights of being up with Grace for hours in the middle of the night, Mark and I headed to bed early. I read for a little while and turned out the light at 10:30. I thought I could actually get 8 straight...
